We’ll explore Microsoft’s many copilots in this blog, exploring their unique goals and showing you how to use them to your advantage in your online activities.

What is Microsoft’s Copilot?

Microsoft introduced Copilot, an artificial intelligence (AI) tool that uses large language models (LLMs) to understand natural language and produce high-quality, detailed text depending on input. These large language models may learn from many types of text input and are trained on billions of words from multiple topics and sources.

The tool’s primary goal is to increase employee efficiency using common applications like PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Team, and Outlook. Microsoft’s GPT-4 language technology was included in Copilot, developed in partnership with GitHub and Open AI.

Is Microsoft Copilot Free?

For comparison, the add-on costs more than the lower-end plans of Microsoft 365 business subscriptions, which run from $12 to $23 per user per month, and is nearly the same as Microsoft’s highest-end enterprise subscription, Office 365 E5, which costs $38 per month.

However, a Windows 11 upgrade made Copilot available for free. Other applications like Copilot for Sales and Copilot for Service have a lower cost of $50 per user.

For individuals, GitHub Copilot costs $10 per month or $100 annually; for businesses, it costs $19 per user per month.
